Friendly Visitors is a volunteer initiative providing support services to homebound elders that facilitates safety and independence in their own homes. Volunteers are trained and matched to activities that best suit their interests.
Friendly Visitors volunteers offer companionship, read mail or write letters, pay bills, do errands, make a daily (Ring-A-Day) telephone call for medicine reminder, or provide other helpful services.
Elders who receive support from Friendly Visitors receive an initial in-home assessment by a licensed social worker to determine level of need and match the client with the appropriate service and volunteer. Clients are assessed annually; referrals are made to other community services as needed.
Friendly Visitors are accepted from all faiths and serve people of all faiths. Services are provided free, but contributions are encouraged and accepted.
