Catholic Community Hospice is dedicated to preserving the quality of life of the dying by restoring their dignity, choices and control. Dedicated care is provided for patients with all terminal illnesses, including, but not limited to, cardiovascular disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, kidney disease, neurological disorders and AIDS.

Hospice empowers patients and families to direct their plan of care. Hospice care can be administered at home or in a home-like setting, such as a long-term care facility. A registered nurse is on call and available 24 hours a day.

Hospice consists of an interdisciplinary team including:

  • Medical Directors
  • Registered Nurses
  • Social Workers
  • Chaplain
  • Volunteers
  • Therapists
  • Home-health Aides

Hospice may include some or all of the following services:

  • Consultation, assessment and development of a plan of care with participation of the patient, family and doctor
  • Nursing care
  • Medical equipment
  • Medication and pain management
  • Bathing and other personal care
  • Respite care
  • Bereavement services

The Catholic Community Hospice Philosophy

Hospice focuses not on the disease, but on the comfort and care of the patient and family.

  • Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death.
  • Hospice effectively addresses the fears of painful suffering, abandonment and loss of control.
  • Symptoms can be controlled and physical suffering can be alleviated.
  • Adequate symptom management is NOT euthanasia.

Catholic Community Hospice Funding

Most services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Catholic Community Hospice will help facilitate coverage through the patient's insurance company. Patients do not process complicated paperwork or bills. No patient will be turned away for lack of insurance or inability to pay.

Any revenue received from Catholic Community Hospice goes to fund Catholic Charities’ programs and services.
